🧠 Learn to Fish — Not Just Sit in the Boat

Captain Kirk loves to teach fishing, not just drive the boat.

You’ll learn:

  • Vertical jigging

🗺️ Where You’ll Fish – The Winnebago System & Beyond

Captain Kirk guides on:

  • Fox River (De Pere) – Spring & Fall
  • Wolf River (Fremont area) – Spring & Early Summer
  • Lake Winnebago – Late May through October
  • Select small lakes in East Central Wisconsin

🐟 What You Might Catch

While targeting walleyes, you may also catch:

  • White bass
  • Freshwater drum (sheepshead)
  • Catfish
  • Smallmouth bass
  • Crappie
  • Perch
  • Northern pike
  • Sturgeon (yes, really!)

🌸 Spring: Fox & Wolf Rivers

Captain Kirk usually starts guiding on the Fox River in De Pere in late March, right after ice-out. This is trophy walleye season and your best chance at a fish of a lifetime.

If the Fox slows down, he moves to the Wolf River in April and May for:

  • Good eater walleyes
  • Incredible white bass action

Due to heavy boat traffic and wake restrictions, Wolf River trips are typically weekdays only.

☀️ Summer & Fall: Lake Winnebago

Lake Winnebago fishing usually gets good starting in late May and runs through mid October.

  • July = rod-bending freshwater drum action
  • Walleyes are always part of the plan
  • Fall can be excellent on both the lake and the rivers

When November arrives and conditions allow, Captain Kirk returns to the rivers to vertical jig and cast jigs just like in spring.

There are a few small lakes near Appleton that offer largemouth bass fishing. Learn the art of wacky rigging and enjoy a fun change of pace.

  • If the lake is too rough → we find calmer water or reschedule
  • If you feel sick → speak up and we adjust
  • If conditions are unsafe → we don’t go, we reschedule

Captain Kirk expects to put fish in the boat. Nobody likes getting skunked, and he works hard to make sure you have a real shot at catching fish.

If, despite a full honest effort and safe, fishable conditions, no fish are boated, you will not owe the remaining balance for the trip.
