Guide Service

Thanks for visiting FishingGuideWisconsin.com
and Fishing With Captain Kirk LLC’s website.

“Captain Kirk was an amazing guide! We were new to the area and he took us newbies on and showed us the ropes. We had a beautiful afternoon of fishing Lake Winnebago and caught enough walleye for a big fish fry. He is instructional and fun all at the same time and I hope we can beam aboard his crew again someday. Thanks again Captain!!”

Captain Kirk would love to spend a day on the water with you. He guides on the Winnebago System and small lakes in East Central, WI. Captain Kirk starts on the Fox River in De Pere, WI usually in the middle of March. He’ll transition to the Wolf River to chase walleyes and white bass come April and May. Then He’ll focus on fishing Lake Winnebago until fall. And then back to the rivers. Dan Kirk is a USCG certified captain and licensed guide making him Captain Kirk. He lives in Menasha, WI just minutes from Lake Winnebago.

Captain Kirk guides only one or two people at a time. Sorry, he will not take 3 or more people in the boat.

“I’d just like to thank you again for the fun day yesterday. Even though the walleye were elusive, my son and I had a great time. Be safe and hope you get a 15 pounder this fall!!”
Steve Olejniczak – Manhattan, IL

Captain Dan Kirk specializes in guide fishing with just one or two people. He’ll take out a maximum of two people. These people do not have to have any fishing experience. Or maybe these people have quite a bit of fishing experience. It really doesn’t matter to Captain Kirk. Dan is all about having safe fun on the water all while teaching fishing. Catching fish is a bonus. Dan also likes to keep fishing simple. Dan will not typically troll for fish with clients. He’d much rather help you jig fish or cast for fish. That way you get a chance to feel the bite and say, “FISH ON!!”.

The Winnebago System

Dan has a great boat for fishing rivers and small to medium size lakes. Dan does enjoy fishing Lake Winnebago. It is truly a great fishery. You will cast jigs, vertical jig, or drag jigs over the reefs for Walleyes and whatever else bites. The Fox River and the Wolf River are also part of the Winnebago system. Captain Kirk enjoys guiding on the Fox River in DePere right after ice out which usually begins in March. You have a chance to catch a walleye of your lifetime.

If the catching goes south on the Fox, then he’ll spend some time on the Wolf River to catch a few good eater walleyes in April and May. And then there’s the white bass action. The Wolf River can be amazing at times for catching white bass. Plus you may hook into a sturgeon, a carp, a white drum (aka sheephead), a channel catfish, a small mouth bass, a crappie, a flathead catfish, or even a northern pike. Due to the fact that the Wolf River receives a ridiculous amount of fishing pressure, Captain Kirk will only guide out there during the week. There are too many boats and too many wake restrictions on weekends to make it fun.

A typical Lake Winnebago walleye!

Then Lake Winnebago can be great beginning in late May with good bites going through October. July is the month of action. If you like the rod bending, July is sheephead (white drum) month. The white drum bite can be really fun. Of course Captain Kirk still plans to get a few walleyes in the boat. Fall fishing on the Wolf and and Fox River can also be a great time to catch some walleye, crappie and small mouth bass. Once November rolls around and the weather cooperates, Dan enjoys going back to the Fox River and sometimes the Wolf to vertical jig and/or cast jigs just like in the spring.

Large Mouth Bass Fishing

There are a few small lakes not too far from Appleton where you can experience some large mouth bass fishing. Learn the ways of wacky rigging.

Dan will provide all the fishing equipment and bait needed for all trips. He does NOT charge extra for bait. And he has top notch quality fishing rods and reels. No need to bring your own.

Dan also enjoys teaching the skills of the JIG. It’s fun to feel the fish hit whether vertical jigging or casting jigs.

Do you get motion sick? So does Captain Kirk. He doesn’t want to be on the water with big wave action. No reason to ruin your trip by being taken out in rough seas. If you’re feeling ill Dan will find calmer seas. If big winds are forecast and Winnebago is the goal, we might have to reschedule. Safety first! Getting motion sick really sucks. Don’t let it ruin your trip. Please speak up if you’re felling ill.

For a great time on the water Fishing With Captain Kirk LLC is the way to go. Safe, reliable fun and with a little luck, FISH.
